The Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita, a chapter of the Mahabharata epic, is said to contain the essence of Hinduism. We believe its precepts are universal and helpful, no matter what a person's religion. The story takes place on the battlefield at Kurukshetra just before the war begins. It contains the avatar Krishna's message to Arjuna, given in his chariot, situated between the two opposing armies. In a deeper sense, the good and bad sides of the war are our own higher and lower tendencies, and the entire bettle takes place in each of our own hearts. Krishna tells Arjuna that it is his (and our) own karma that brings him (and us) to the present situation, and if it's not dealt with here and now, it will keep coming back to him (and us) in different forms again and again until it is resolved. This is Arjuna's, as well as our own, predicament.

For comparison, the Gita verse 7:7 is given in each of the Bhagavad Gita offerings

The Jnaneshwari
M. R. Yardi, Trans.
This is Sri Jnaneshwar's well-known commentary on the Gita. Exquisitely composed, the style is both poetic and full of imagery; intended for the common people who did not know Sanskrit, it is a delightful read. If we start looking for the source of a mirage, we find that it originates not from the rays of the sun, but from the sun itself. So Arjuna, when this Prakriti manifested as the world begins to dissolve, then know that I [Krishna] alone exist. — Sri Jnaneshwar Hardcover/682pp (Indian edition)
