In The Vision of God Volume 1 "In 1970 I came upon the writings of Swami Ramdas. And there it was, so innocently presented, a testament to the possibility that by remembering Ram (God), one's life could be transformed, totally transformed, moment by moment, into divine 'lila' (play)."
—Ram Dass/Richard Alpert

These two remarkable volumes continue the spiritual autobiographical trilogy of Swami Ramdas, begun in In Quest of God. Since his death in 1963, Swami Ramdas' reputation, which had become well established during his life, has continued to expand and flourish even here in the West.

In the Vision of God, Volume I, continues the saga of his amazing pilgrimage. Walking in the light of self-realization, he traveled the dusty roads of the Indian subcontinent as a penniless monk, from the ancient temples of the south to the snow-covered Himalayas of the north, in a God-intoxicated state of surrender to the supreme will.

In simple compelling language, Swami Ramdas recounts his many extraordinary experiences with serene and loving compassion and a captivating sense of humor that makes these volumes a pleasure to read.

Volume II is the final volume of the Swami Ramdas trilogy, in which he finally ceases his travels, and his followers establish an ashram in North Kerala, India. Here he meets his most devoted follower, Mother Krishnabai.

The life of Swami Ramdas gives us an eloquent example of grace and humor and the astonishing power of constant God-remembrance.
